About

Jonas Scheu, born 1980 in Switzerland, works as a filmmaker, photographer and cultural mediator. He lives in Biel/Bienne. Master in Film Directing, HES-SO ECAL/HEAD Geneva. Working independently since 2007.
At the heart of his work are communities and figures at the threshold — alpine collectives, Southeast Asian diasporas, spiritual outsider figures. His practice moves between European auteur cinema, ethnographic photography and participatory cultural heritage work.
His films have screened at Visions du Réel (Nyon), DOK.fest Munich, the Solothurner Filmtage, the Pärnu International Documentary Film Festival and other international festivals. He is a member of Suissimage and the Académie du Cinéma Suisse, and a board member of Filmgilde Biel/Bienne.
